Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya

Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya was initially composed of several higher education institutions that already exist. These institutions are the Faculty of Religious Sciences Department of Da'wah (FIAD) standing since Sept. 15, 1964, Faculty of MT Surabaya founded in 1975, Teachers' Training College Surabaya Muhammadiyah established in 1980, the Faculty of Sharia Surabaya established in 1982, and the Institute of Technology Surabaya Muhammadiyah established in 1983.

By decree. Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs. No.:0141/0/1984, Teachers' Training College Surabaya Muhammadiyah, Muhammadiyah Surabaya Institute of Technology, and the University of Muhammadiyah Gresik merged into one under the name "University of Muhammadiyah SURABAYA" hereinafter abbreviated to UMSurabaya. Originally Surabaya Muhammadiyah University consists of three faculties, namely the Faculty of Education as an incarnation of Muhammadiyah Surabaya Teachers' Training College, Faculty of Engineering as an incarnation of Muhammadiyah Surabaya Institute of Technology, and the Faculty of Economics as an incarnation of the Faculty of Economics, University of Muhammadiyah Gresik.

In 1985, based on the Decree of East Java Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah No. Kep / 003-V / 1985, the Faculty of Da'wah (FIAD), Faculty of MT and the Faculty of Sharia berinduk to UMSurabaya, and all three are members of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI).

To meet the need for medical personnel, especially the Health Associate Expert program, then in 1992 Muhammadiyah Central Board of Trustees Health Assembly through No.:IV.B/4.a/220/1992 Letter dated December 14, 1992 to file an application Establishment of Health Education Associate Expert in Muhammadiyah / Aisyiyah to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health ,. UMSurabaya including one who plotted to open the educational program in question. By decree of the Minister of Health. No .: Hk.00.06.1.1.3331 dated 8 September 1993 officially beridiri ACADEMY OF NURSING (Nursing Academy) in UMSurabaya environment. On January 1, 2000 established the Faculty of Law and in 2001 also stood Academy of Health Analyst (AAK) Unmuh Surabaya Higher Education Decree No. 184 / D / O / 2001 taggal 26-09-2001.

In 2004 the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya attempt to establish a graduate program (master of Islamic Studies), and based on the SK Dj.II / 363/2004 has stood the Master of Islamic Education of Ministry of Religious Affairs.

On August 24, 2005 University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya getting a recommendation from the Agency for Development and Empowerment of Human Resources (BPPSDM) Ministry of Health No. HK0312.4.1.03259 for the establishment of Nursing Science Program and based on the results of the Central Board visitation Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) No. 553 / PP.PPNI / K / X / 2005 dated October 5, 2005, the Director General of Higher Education as well as by Decision 277 / D / T2006 dated January 30, 2006 UM Surabaya has been given permission to menyelenggrarakan iImu Nursing Program (SI) Faculty of Health Sciences.

2006 University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya continues to meet the demands of the need for health personnel in this regard is the midwife, with various considerations still high demand for midwives to reduce maternal and child mortality in improving maternal and child health, the Director General of Higher Education by Decree No. 006 / D / T / 2006 UM Surabaya granted a license to D3 Midwifery Studies Program. Based on the Prodi permit terbitknya the 2006 program of study in the field of health include nursing D3 Studies Program, the Academy of Health Analyst, Science Program Keseperawatan and D3 Midwifery Studies Program became a faculty with the name of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK).

In 2008 the University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya efforts in developing a comprehensive human health services especially in dealing with the psychological problems of man, then by the Director General of Higher Education Decree No. 2001 / D / T / 2008 dated June 25, 2008 has been opened SI Studies program is at the Faculty of Psychology at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In 2009 by decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 1272 / D / T / 2009 dated July 31, 2009 stood Education master's program language and Literature Indonesia (S2).

In 2012 by decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 48 / E / O / 2012 dated 8 February 2012 has stood the teacher of Education Studies Program Early Childhood Education (ECD PG).
